DRY CYLINDER

Dry cylinder liners function autonomously without direct contact with engine coolant, earning the ‘dry’ designation. With a thickness ranging between 1.5 and 3 mm, these liners engage with the cylinder block, contributing to the engine’s self-cooling mechanism. Present in semi-final and final variations, dry cylinder liners offer versatile solutions for engine applications. The advantageous attributes include a straightforward replacement process and the ability to navigate challenges associated with water jackets. However, installing dry cylinder liners inside the cylinder block remains a notable technical challenge.

WET CYLINDER

Wet Cylinder Liners are manufactured through centrifugal casting, utilizing grey cast iron. The induction furnace heats the iron, and molten metal is poured into centrifugal casting machinery. The continuous rotation ensures even metal distribution, with centrifugal force pushing impurities to the bore surface. Machining removes impurities, resulting in a finer-grained casting. The addition of chromium enhances corrosion resistance. Wet Liners directly interact with engine coolant, offering superior heat dissipation and cooling. Static seals are crucial to prevent coolant leakage. The advantages of Wet type Liners include ease of manufacturing, effective cooling, and stress relief through thermal expansion.

PISTON

AIR COOLED, WATER COOLED

Air-cooled and water-cooled cylinder liners are produced through the advanced Shell Moulding process. Air Cooled Cylinder Liners exhibit exceptional wear resistance, ensuring extended durability and efficient cooling. Specifically designed for Air-Cooled Engines, they operate similarly to Dry Cylinder Liners, using air as the primary cooling medium. Heat dissipation occurs through forced convection, facilitated by surface fins made from materials with high thermal conductivity. Water-cooled liners rely on the flow of water inside channels for cooling, functioning similarly to a cylinder block.
